The famous and beautiful Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and India’s most important monument.

The stunning 17th Century white marble Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1631 and 1648 as a mausoleum for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth giving birth to their 14th child. The best artists were hired from all over India and Central Asia, and the Bordeaux artist, Venice, participated in its decoration.

The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and universally admired as a masterpiece throughout the world.
